Singapore has been and still is a city where consumerism is king. Just head down to Orchard Road and you will find an ongoing line-up of malls- for the bargain-hunters, the high-spenders, but mostly for the general shopper in all of us.

The following are some of the popular shopping malls for just about anyone to visit:

VivoCity

Currently the largest shopping mall in Singapore, VivoCity took Singapore by storm when it first opened its doors. Its stylized and modern interior make shopping feel like a luxury to its shoppers. This is definite the best place to shop for high street fashion with brands like River Island, Zara, Pull and Bear, Armani Exchange and Forever 21. There's even a bookstore called Page One; beauty store, Crabtree & Evelyn; electronic store, Best Denki; and supermarkets, Market Place and Giant.

Liang Court

Liang Court is a shopping mall situated between River Valley Road and the Singapore River. It is known to be the only mall that houses such a varied range of Japanese stores from fashion boutiques, bookstores and restaurants. The unique theme of this popular shopping mall can't help but to draw a large numbers of avid fans of anything Japanese ?from anime to the kawaii (aka cute) fashionistas.

Ion Orchard

For the mainstream shoppers, if you want to keep within budget, it is best to stay at the lower floors of this shopping mall. Basement levels B1 to B4 offers shoppers a selection of high fashion and lifestyle shops including Zara, Topshop, Uniqlo and Levi's. With 640,000 sq ft of retail space, this gem must not be left uncovered!

CK Tangs

One of the older shopping establishments in Singapore, CK Tangs is perhaps one of the most authentic looking malls along Orchard Road. This Pagoda-style architecture is a mega department store on its own, with an entire floor as a beauty hall and many more floors of travel, home, fashion and electronic merchandise.

Ngee Ann City (Takashimaya Department Store)

Don't let the big expensive names at the mall front fool you. While this popular shopping mall carries some of the priciest international brands, it also houses Takashimaya ?a popular all-purpose Japanese department store that has everything from affordable fashion apparel to household items like bedding and cooking equipment.

313 @Somerset

Located conveniently above the Somerset MRT station, this mall is a great place to head down to for some shopping, with 150 units of F&B, entertainment and retailers such as Zara, Forever 21, Lacoste, Esprit and Uniqlo. Just a train ride away, there's no reason not to visit 313@Somerset!

Plaza Singapura

While this popular shopping mall may seem a little out of the way from Orchard Road, it is definitely worth the trip down. Connected to the Dhoby Ghaut MRT station, at the far end of Orchard Road, the nine-storey Plaza Singapura is built to be a one-stop mall with everything from fashion, entertainment and dining for the entire family.
